The towns of Marquette and McGregor are nestled between the steep river bluffs and the Mighty Mississippi River, on the Great River Road. Whether it be hiking and camping, relaxing on the Mississippi, grabbing a bite to eat with a great view, or shopping our unique shops, we have endless possibilities!
Spending time on the Iowa Wine Trail? Stop in at the winery in Marquette and enjoy free samples of their award winning wine and relax in their wine garden. Perhaps you brought the boat with you. Dock at the city boat ramp and cruise the Mississippi, soaking up the scenic river bluffs. Is hiking more your liking? Effigy Mounds National Monument has miles of trails that meander past Indian burial mounds, culminating at Hanging Rock overlooking the Mississippi River. Feeling lucky? Drop in at the casino and try your hand one of the tables while aboard a river boat.
Driving south to McGregor you will pass a marina, where houseboat and pontoon rentals let you enjoy the “Mighty ‘Sip” at your leisure. How about a guided river tour for the afternoon? Once in McGregor you’ll find shops lining Main Street and buildings that date back to 1800s still standing, inviting you in with their charm. Take the drive to one of the most beautiful spots in the state of Iowa, Pikes Peak State Park.
After a fun-filled day, the bed and breakfasts or our local motels welcome you home, where you can relax and unwind in our quaint little river towns. We have many restaurants in both towns that serve up mouth-watering home cooked dishes guaranteed to satisfy your appetite.
