Dodge

Dodge, Wis., is a peaceful town found along the Trempealeau River, a great central spot from where in less than 20 minutes you can reach the Mississippi River, the Trepealeau River Meadow, or trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge and Perrot State Park. Larger cities nearby include Fountain City and Trempealeau, Wis., and Winona, Minn.

Trempealeau River Meadow is a high quality wetland complex, featuring a large undisturbed sedge meadow with a variety of species. In addition to large number of grassland birds nesting, you’re likely to spot great blue herons and bald eagles.

Visitors to Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge will find plenty of outdoor activites on its 6,446 acres. Each season offers its own wildlife viewing opportunities while hunting, fishing, biking, skiing, or snowshoeing. One can enjoy even more outdoor activities at Perrot State Park, where you can reserve a campsite for a more extended stay in the area.

Begin and end your outdoor getaway in Dodge, where you can enjoy food and refreshment at on of the friendly neighborhood bar and grills, either inside or outside on the deck overlooking the Trempealeau River, or take in horse riding lessons, a day camp or horse show just outside of town.
